DSC and Guadeloupe Students Tour Laudat Geothermal Site for Hands-On Learning

Dominica State College and Guadeloupe Students Tour Laudat Geothermal Site in Hands-On Learning Exchange

Students from the Building, Construction, Engineering & Architectural programs at Dominica State College (DSC) took their learning outside the classroom this week with a field visit to the Geothermal Power Plant Project Site in Laudat. The educational tour, held on Thursday, was conducted in partnership with peers from the Lycée Chevalier de Saint George in Guadeloupe, marking a vibrant moment of cross-cultural and technical exchange.

Guided by engineers and professionals working on the site, students explored the geothermal infrastructure firsthand, engaging in detailed discussions about renewable energy systems, sustainable engineering practices, and modern construction methods. The visit offered a rare opportunity to observe the integration of advanced geothermal technology in Dominica’s push toward clean and resilient energy solutions.

“This kind of immersive experience gives our students the practical perspective they need to complement their studies and thrive in the industries of tomorrow,” said a faculty representative from Dominica State College.

The tour reinforced DSC’s commitment to experiential learning, allowing students not only to interact with real-world technology but also to foster meaningful connections with regional peers, as Dominica continues to position itself at the forefront of sustainable energy innovation in the Caribbean.
